The Face of Fear is able to actually scare people to death. Judge Fear's powers are this taken literally.After the Sisters use him to open a bridge to Deadworld, he's reduced to a puppet of Death, slaughtering citizens in the name of the Dark Judges - all while being just aware enough to know what he's doing and feel the torment of each victim. Kraken's fate during the storyline is incredibly horrific.From Judge Kraken struggling to maintain his grip on sanity as he becomes a slave to Death's two Sisters, the city itself becoming a slaughterhouse where all the light is drowned out, and the groups of Juvies trying to escape from skull-headed Judge Mortis going after them like an undead Terminator. The Necropolis arc in general is a goddamn horrorshow from beginning to end.And no matter how thoroughly you get rid of them, they always manage to find a way to return. During the Necropolis storyline they took over Mega-City One and managed to kill sixty million people. The Dark Judges tend to evoke this, and their very existence is a prime example, being four undead, omnicidal beings with assorted nasty powers (plus the two Sisters of Death) convinced that merely being alive is a capital offense who have already managed to wipe out all life on their own world.Vajna served as producer or executive producer on films including “ Evita,” starring Madonna, Oliver Stone’s “ Nixon,” “ Judge Dredd,” “ Die Hard With a Vengeance” and “ Angel Heart.” He left Carolco in 1989 to form Cinergi Productions and InterCom. He was a founder and president of the American Film Marketing Assn., which launched the American Film Market. With partner Mario Kassar, Vajna founded the indie powerhouse Carolco, which produced blockbusters including “ Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” the first three “ Rambo” films and “ Basic Instinct.” Carolco was one of the most successful companies in the foreign pre-sales business, and a mainstay at the world’s film markets. The Hungarian National Film Fund confirmed his death, calling him a “dominant figure in the Hungarian and international film industry” who was responsible for the development of the fund.
Andy Vajna, executive producer of several “ Rambo” films as well as “ Total Recall” and several “Terminator” movies, has died at 74.
